This Lag B’Omer was a day of simcha and achdus for the Aleph Beis Gimmel family.
It was a great evening for the whole family. The children had plenty to keep them busy. The petting zoo was a highlight, drawing eager crowds as children fed and interacted with the animals. A play area and cotton candy station added to the excitement, giving the younger crowd a steady stream of things to enjoy.
When it was time to eat, everyone gathered around the tables on the lawn and enjoyed delicious barbeque while Rabbi Rubashkin addressed the crowd.
His words resonated and inspired because they were reflected all around them. He spoke about sheves achim gam yachad – the inherent unity of Yidden, and how beautiful it when it is expressed and experienced.
He connected this idea to Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai, who taught not only the revealed Torah, but taught the hidden, inner aspects of Torah. This is the key to Emunah and Bitachon – seeing the truth behind nature and experiencing trust and tranquility that Hashem will provide. It also parallels the core of true ahavas Yisrael – seeing not just the revealed aspects of our fellow Jews, but seeing their essence, which is inherently holy and good.
And of course, there was a hadlaka. The bonfire was lit and burned brightly, drawing everyone in for a joyous dance.
Families lingered and then headed home, one at a time, taking the fire and light, the warmth and the joy of Lag B’Omer back to their daily lives.
